The Stanley Theatre, 1944

Let's go back to 1944. Playing at the Stanley Theatre, then a movie theatre were two films, Once Upon a Time with Cary Grant also Nine Girls  with Ann Harding.

I couldn't find too much about the latter film, other than this poster for the show, but here's ol' Cary himself in a clip from Once Upon a Time.

"What does the public need in times like these? Escape. And escape through beauty. " Very apt, considering this was a war-time production but I think we always need a bit of that don't we? And Ol' Cary, he delivers.

We may not have Cary, but thank goodness we still have Stanley.
