We got a sneak peek inside one of South Granville's newest coffee shops this week and a chance to meet the lovely owners. Cheryl and Kyle Wright of Commercial Drive's Bump N Grind Café, are opening their second location in the old Picnic/Salon Tea space next to Meinhardt.
They gave us a look inside while under construction. The main change to the space is the moving of the service area to the centre of the space, to allow seating close to the window, affording views of and from the street. The interior features white washed wood panelled walls, creative warm wood shelving spelling out the café's name and a clean modern hexagonal tile backsplash.
As other neighbourhoods go, it's fair to say that South Granville has been underserved in the past by specialty coffee shops of this nature, so I am looking forward to their presence here on the street. They also plan to have fresh baked goods (some baked on premise) and sandwiches along with seating for up to 24 people.
No word of a firm opening date yet, but we're looking forward to having a cup there before Christmas I expect.
