Paris has been buzzing during the past few weeks. Sadly I was not there experiencing the glorious mayhem of Paris Fashion Week (PFW) first hand. Happily I discovered a nifty thing called The Internets. The Internets affords folks like me the opportunity to witness the glories of PFW via the wilds of the world wide web. Whether it's live feeds of Haute Couture shows as they happen or an hour delay on an entire collection being uploaded to style.com it's easy to see the latest, greatest and the who's who wearing what's what.
Giambattista Valli presented F/W 2014 Haute Couture during this glamorous semi-annual event. As usual the designer did not disappoint. The pieces ranged from wearable (depending on your definition of the word) to frothy. One of the more "wearable" pieces (and a personal favorite) was a bold voluminously draped striped dress reminiscent of a wildly stylish circus big-top.
A marvellous piece with a price tag to match. The average Vancouverite would likely have reservations about dropping a few months rent on such an item. Thanks god for imitation. Stripes are always on trend, this year is no different - and as luck would have it the underlying look of Giambattista Valli can be found right here in SG. In fact you don't even need to hunt for it. Walking home the other day Big Top stripes stared me in the face as I passed a neighborhood shop window. Illustrating perfectly the real way to achieve the style of last week's Paris runway. Voila.
